About Parisar Trust

Parisar Trust, Vadodara, established the Arvindbhai Patel Institute of Environmental Design (APIED) in 1980 to provide education in the fields of architecture and interior design.

The late Dr. H.M. Patel, the Finance Minister of India and Chairman of Charutar Vidya Mandal, played a vital role in providing patronage and support to the institute. APIED was able to create an environment that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and innovation for students, which in turn facilitated learning and growth.

Since its establishment, APIED has been committed to providing a comprehensive and well-rounded education to its students. The institute's faculty members are experts in their respective fields,with programs designed to be rigorous and challenging, where students are encouraged to think critically and creatively, pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

Over the years, APIED has developed a reputation as one of the premier institutions for architecture and interior design education in India. Its graduates are highly sought after by employers, and they have gone on to become leaders in their respective fields. Message from Director

APIED is an Architecture and Design Institute of the country with a storied legacy tracing back to more than four decades. This unique Institute was established in congruence with the Institution-building ethos in the early eighties by Architects, Practicing Professionals, Artists and Academicians of Gujarat. I welcome you once again to be a part of this rich legacy.

Education is imparted through studios and labs, where constant hands-on learning and experimentation happens in an interactive teaching-learning environment. We are known for achieving benchmarks in terms of contextual-centric design educational pedagogy. This method and culture has also given an impetus to creative design practices and research in diverse domains and regions in India and abroad. Since its inception, design education, design practice, design research. and design promotion have been the key focus areas for the institute.

APIED has an enriched global perspective on design education and practice which it applies in the local contexts largely due to its distinctive location where all activities flourish in a very creative work environment.

Today, over 2400 graduates from APIED have made their mark across the socio-economic and industrial canvas of India across a wide spectrum of activities: many have even made an impact internationally. APIED has received unwavering support from the Sardar Patel University, Charutar Vidya Mandal Trust and Institute's Governing Council. Its pillars. however. continue to remain its faculty, staff, students, alumni and all other stakeholders, whose cumulative efforts have made it the pioneering Institution that it is today

You will find that you have entered an environment that fosters curiosity, imagination, experimentation, flexibility, and the maturing of ideas. This is a time of change and there will be challenges. Yet there are still immense opportunities to use clues to transform the common place into distinctive experiences.

Our program nudges students to become independent thinkers. Our teaching methodologies keep abreast with technology. Our architectural pedagogy keeps reinventing itself. The interaction here, between students, Faculty & Staff is open, encouraging and mutually supportive.


It gives me immense pride to welcome all the students on a creative journey from energetic students to dynamic professionals.
