The Bachelor of Architecture course is a 5 years (10 Semester) Course, affiliated to Sardar Patel University. The course is approved by both AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education ) and COA (Council of Architecture, India). The course is designed in such a way that the students get maximum exposure to practical aspects of design. the students undergo an office training for a period of Six months with an Architectural firm. To build the Research aptitude in students the final semester is dedicated to Thesis.

The First year foundation semester concentrates on enhancing the overall of the students, the main focus being Anthropometry (study of properties of human body), tuning their visual perception and get acquainted to the field architecture.

A broad introduction to basic materials, their properties, and the method of constructions for the same are given to the students in order to acquaint them to know – hows their immediate built environment.

The built environment surrounding us has a certain language characteristics of the place, in terms of its visual aspects, in term of human behavior, in terms of climatic response and many more ingrained features. This particular course is such framed as to sensitize the student to these context – Particular issues of design that are vital for development of our neighborhoods in sustainable manner.

In order to achieve this, a special study tour is organized to usually a historically significant place and a compressive analysis is carried out of its built fabric. A.P.I.E.D. Boasts of many great compilations of student’s documentation and analytical work accomplished in the duration of this semester.

The Semester Program revolves around the various facets of residential design in various scales, mass housing being the center of attention. Housing apartments and townships are the new trend of the urbanized city in order to meet the ever increasing demand of human habitat in the limited land space. The design Challenge rests in arraigning the pieces together in such a way as to meet the minimum requirements of space with affordable aesthetics, while also reinventing methods of design for a better living environment in current and predicated future urban scenario. The special strategy of the college being due emphasis on sustainable methods of building, students are encouraged to think environmental health and resources optimization simultaneously.

The academic scope of this semester encompasses architectural issues at a large scale, pertaining to key planning of the city as a whole. The aim is to develop a deeper insight into the city’s urban fabric and its built Character. A broader base of information of its built environment is analyzed and an appropriate response is reached in form of an urban intervention. The design program enforces critical analysis of site geometry, important axes, land division, building division, visual lines, historical linkages, building silhouettes along with the foreground and background of the built form. A team of senior professors and visiting academicians guide students by assisting them on site studies and help them with many audio-visual presentations on the subject.

We as an Institute recognize the urgent need for a trained professional in the discipline of interior design. space planning and furniture design. In the current, rapidly growing economic scenario of India, Where it is envisaged that with multinational companies setting base and emerging consciousness amongst people for brand image, the role of an interior Designer is consistently being challenged.

Our course curriculum comprises of Progressive learning through various subjects such as Anthropometrics, Basic Design, Construction, Working Drawing, Quantities Estimation and Specification over a period of three years.

We also encourage the concept of interdisciplinary model of education which effectively integrates the knowledge of art, product design, graphics design, architecture and other related fields. We believe our unique model of teaching helps in developing an overall sensitivity amongst students to various aspects of design and its representation. Subject such as Theories of Design, History of Art, Culture and Design are intended to develop critical thinking and further evolve novel ways in which we can envision the futuristic trends in Interior Design in India and Worldwide.

We also encourage that students gain through a hand on approach to learning through participation in various workshops related to glass, metal weaving, print making, lino and woodcuts etc. visiting various building sites where construction activity is ongoing, provides our students with necessary exposure to practical realities of the profession.

The programme aims at development of a broad understanding of planning process with respect to socioeconomic, physical and environmental impact on the related surrounding. The programme further seeks to extend the limits of existing Urban & Regional Planning theories and actively pursue the discovery of new viable forms of urban agglomerations for the new generations.

Central to the curriculum in Urban Planning is the study of Urban process in their various embodiments such as Economic, Social & Physical Infrastructural facilities, environmental impacts and the political & administrative framework in the context of the built environment

The combination of theory session and studio exercise in the curriculum enables translation of knowledge into practical solutions. The studio exercise primarily aim at cultivation of planning methodology with critical reviews of suggested proposal and innervations.

Town or Area Development plan, T.P. Schemes, City Development plan, Regional plan are some of the outcomes of the studio exercise structured at various levels of planning. Tools to implement such plans, understanding of legislative measures and development control regulation are an integral part of the studio.
